Summary: The solution to distracting light
This is the solution to distracting ambient light that enters your viewfinder. I have on occasion missed problems in my images when too much light entered my viewfinder at the time of capture, especially when the light which eluminates the subject is behind or 90 degrees to the camera. The Hoodman H-EYE18L competely remidies this issue and I can honestly say that I see more detail in my subject when viewing TTL using this product no matter what lighting conditions are present. This is a must have for the pro and advanced photographer or anyone who wants to improve upon their view of the world as it is seen through the lens.

Summary: It works as advertised
The purpose of this HoodEye is to block extraneous light so you can see better what you are shooting at.
This unit is somewhat large for my 5D Mark II camera, and it somewhat blocks the superior part of the 3" camera LCD screen so if you wanted to see the picture on the screen, you kinda have to move the rubber piece out of the way...or remove it.
It is designed for the naked eye, meaning no glasses, as the rubber cup fits the eye sockets better than the relatively flat lenses of glasses.

Summary: It Works for Me
When I first looked at this after receiving it I thought "no way." It just didn't look like it had the depth to block out light from the viewfinder. I tried it out and found that it worked fine for me. I still think a little larger and softer would be better, which is why the 4 stars rather than 5.
