Product Description
The Opteka flash diffuser creates a diffused bare bulb effect, giving even coverage across the entire frame, with lenses from 15mm to 200mm in the 35mm format (and equal in other formats as well). The Opteka diffuser is easy to use and goes onto and off the flash in seconds with custom fitting and no touch fastener.
Designed for years of service without the bulk of some other diffusers, it is small enough to fit easily into a gadget bag or pocket.

Summary: Falls off
So I had gotten this diffuser for my SB-600 already hearing that people had problems with it falling off, thinking that maybe I will get lucky and it won't fall off. Well it does and doesn't . When I put it on my flash it stays on but the moment I start to move the head of the flash it starts to fall off. But it isn't anything that a piece of gaffers tape or maybe velcro can't fix. so 4 out of 5.

Summary: Great diffuser for the money
I'll be the first to give it 5 stars. I have had absolutely no problems with this diffuser falling off the SB600. In fact, I leave it on all the time. I use for photos less than 20 feet to the subject. If you practice and experiment, it can look like natural light. For the price, it reduces the harsh light of direct flash.
I leave it on while stored to act as a flash protector. And I did drop my flash once to the floor. Diffuser took the direct impact and no damage visible or to the flash!

Summary: Serves its purpose well enough.
It performs well enough, but I kind of wish it snapped on rather than sliding on. Other than that, it suites my purposes; and for the online price, you can't beat it.

Summary: Nice little diffuser for the money
For close in, under 15 feet or so this is an excellent little diffuser. Over 15 feet there is a little light fall-off that needs to be compensated. At close range it gets rid of the harsh bluish light from the flash through diffusion and a slight color shift through the plastic. To me it seems to drop the flash color from 5600 kelvin to around 4900-5000 kelvin, not a big deal and it make portraiture work easier. I leave it on the flash most of the time and have never worried about it falling off, it has a good snug fit on the SB-600. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to improve their flash photographs. It's an inexpensive addition to my bag of cheap photo lighting tricks. The four stars is because of the slight light shift, flashing through the diffuser.

Summary: Softens the flash better then built-in diffuser
I have had this for about 8 months now and it works great. It is cheap and you can lower the flash's diffuser of leave it up with the cap in place. Test shots I have taken show a slight difference, it softens the flash better then the build in flash reducing flash reflections in people's eyes, teeth, and jewelry. It won't make a large difference in outdoor fill flash areas, or situations needing longer range. I used the cap in the last Shanghai Auto Show and was pleased with the results as it illuminated the cars but did not produce noticeable reflections from paint, minimal from chrome and glass.
I use this with the Nikon 55~200mm VR lens and tripod for portraits. It works great with kids too as it is not as harsh and does not distract them as often as the flash with it off. I have never had it fall off the flash as others have reported. It does fit snug and does have a gap of about an inch or 2.5cm from the end of the flash and the end of the cap. I carry the flash with it on most of the time and the only issue I have is that the flash's carrying case flap does not close fully with the cap on. I am very satisfied with mine and always keep it on my flash, it seldom comes off. For the price it is the best deal in my camera bag.
