I purchased this dock about two years ago. It worked great and was very happy with it. So I purchased a second one for another room. Two years later the docks work fine but neither remote works any longer. Without the remote you cannot control the volume on the ipod and basically makes it useless.

This thing is KILLING your iPod! Kensington will admit this to you either on their online FAQ or if you talk to their customer Reps. It continues to charge your iPod even when the battery is full, which destroys your battery eventually.

Also the unit I bought played sound through only the left channel. Bad product, buy a genuine Apple product off of Amazon or eBay or something

I love this unit as a charger, but in hooking it up to my TV for audio playback, I always had problems with the volume. I'd have to crank it up on both the TV and the iPod to get it at a reasonably decent listening level.

This works fine for powering the Ipod but the volume is really bad does anyone have the same issue? I have no problem playing cd's or dvd's but the volume level is really low.

I gave this a 3 because of my use of it. I love the remote control function, but it does not fit if the iPod is inside a case and since I don't like to remove my iPod from it's case, this doesn't get much use. but the product does work like it's supposed to. I also have a laptop with iTunes so I just use the cable from my stereo to my laptop and play it like that. For people who don't have a computer or a laptop, and have just an iPOd, this is a great product to own.
