Summary: Not level
The laser level isn't level. With the twin bubble levels centered (or nearly so since they don't agree), in the distance of 20' it was off level by over 2". I wish I'd checked the callibration before I started the fence. Oops.

Summary: Just OK
Item works as a straight line laser, but doesn't work at all for locating wall studs. Not impressed at all.

Summary: Expensive paperweight
I agree with the other gentleman. IF you can get it to calibrate and stay on, it will give you a rough idea as to where to hammer a small nail through the drywall to actually find the stud. But that's a big IF. I ended up throwing mind in the garbage out of sheer disgust. I'm going back to using my old 20+ year old Zircon StudSensor II that I have to manually calibrate. Even though I still had the original packaging, I could not even think of selling this on eBay or even giving it to the local thrift store.

Summary: Good tool
I'm mostly happy with this tool.
Pros:
* The laser works well. * The tool is light weight
Cons:
* The stud sensor is not overly accurate, and gives about a 1/2" range for the edges of the studs * I continually bump the laser button when using the stud-sensor mode * The level bubbles are small, and not overly easy to read
Overall, it's a great tool. I'm glad I purchased it, but it's not a five-star item.

Summary: Not even a good paper weight!
This thing couldn't detect a stud if you showed it a picture of a 2x4 beforehand. I've had this thing for almost two years and have never had it reliably detect a stud. I can't believe Stanley would put such a piece of junk on the market. I'm through with their products. Don't waste your money. Look for another manufacturer.
