Summary: Tracfone BEWARE! of the expired Sim Card
I haven't used my tracfone since my last road trip vacation. I tried to reactivate (not easy) the phone, I was told the SIM Card is expired. And they will mail me a new card, I'm leaving tomorrow. Leaving with out a phone thanks to Tracfone. On the road with out a phone...it never explained this SIM card problem in the brochure with all the smiling faces. Thanks Tracfone. PS the supervisor could not help me.

Summary: great for elderly mom and uncle...no problems at all
They had tracfones on sale for 9.99 (absolutely no frills) in a local CVS.. and I could not resist buying a couple for my elderly mom and elderly uncle...They were each adamant about not needing a cell phone and let's face it..at their age, it's risky not to have one. I showed them how to charge it, turn it on and off, and scroll down to a desired number..(both have good corrected vision)...bottom line: They LOVE THEM..never leave home without them...check in with family when they are going to be late..I purchased a year's supply of units, as they do not use for chit chat..Peace of mind at a very cheap rate: PRICELESS!

Summary: Missing Units
I have had a tracfone for a few years. I have not had problems with reception or making calls. The customer service is a nightmare. You really can not transfer your phone number. I tried from one tracfone to another. What a mess and hours talking to people who barely speak English. Last time I purchased minutes I got 800. I used 400 in about 4-5 months. I rarely use my phone which is why I have a tracfone. The surprise came in the last two weeks when suddenly 350 minutes of my last 400 were gone. I did not increase my time on the phone. What happened to the minutes??? My father in law has had the same problems. He never uses his phone, but his minutes have disappeared. With this recent issue I would suggest looking for some other plan. I am not sure it will save me any money.

Summary: Tracfone service is terrible
I've owned a Tracfone for 3 years. My old Tracfone quit working, so I purchased a new one. I've been trying for 4 weeks to transfer my old phone number to my new Tracfone. It's been a nightmare-after 4 weeks, 3 new sim cards, and countless calls to TracFone customer service reps, I've accomplished nothing. My phone is still not activated, I still don't have my old number transfered, and I've wasted 7 hours speaking to customer reps. I don't recommend TracFone.

Summary: info.
My tracfone has good reception. i like that it has free call waiting and free caller id. if you haven't activated your tracfone yet then the 'refer a friend program' will give each of us 120 free minutes. please send me an email and i will send you a fast referral( i check my email often). it's a win/win! thank you.
