Summary: Must-have lens for all photographers
If you need a lens for low light condition, this lens will do a great job. It absorbs more light in faster shutter speeds due to the wide aperture (f1.8). This fast lens is also good for "freezing time in a photograph" (not blurry images) and for portraits. The depth of field control is unbelievably amazing! Don't think twice! Get this cheap yet powerful lens now!

Summary: Great Lens
For $125 there is not a better lens out there for portrait photography. It is not the sharpest lens out there, don't get me wrong it is sharp but does have a soft sharpness. DOF is great, size is great, low light shots inside now possibly with no flash and low ISO. Bought it because of the positive reviews on Amazon and am very happy to have this lens in my collection now. I am a novice shooting with a D90 and have had amazing results so far with this lens. Fast lens with amazing low light capabilities. Would highly recommend this lens to anyone shooting a lot of indoor shots.

Summary: 50mm lens
When I bought my Nikon D80, the lenses that came with it were the 18-55mm and 55-200mm, but until I bought this lens I hadn't realized I was missing out on so much better pictures! Basically I bought the lens because it was the cheapest one I could find, but only after reading all the reviews and tech specs. I like this lens a lot, and think that it should come standard with the nikon cameras. The only thing I don't like about it is sometimes the Automatic focus acts strangely, but I like using it on Manual anyways. Also recommend if you buy any lens that you keep a clear filter on it.

Summary: excellent, fast glass
this is an excellent intermediate lens. it's fast, sharp and awesome. on my d200, its a 75mm equivalent on a 35mm sensor. this is the perfect length for head-and-shoulders portraits. i bought it on a whim at a local new brunswick nj camera shop, and haven't taken it off since.
before this, i used a 1976 nikon 50mm f/2, produced at the height of the nikon vs. canon arms race. once i adjusted electronic aperture controls, it was smooth sailing.
look no further than this lens for low light amateur photography.

Summary: If you into portraits you should have it!
Its handy, light weight and a fast lense.. pixs at 1.8f is pretty good, but the sharpest ones could come out from 2.8f aperture. It is great lense if you photograph inside, with the little light you can get some great pictures.. AF is amazing, it is fast and sharp! I use it with D90 and by the time you half press the shutter bigno ! it focus!
certainly not a pro-portrait lense, but this little boy can sure surprise you with the outcome.. If you have kids and would like to capture some happy moments while they play then you got to hook this lense to your cam, it captures fast and well exposed pictures inside with very little light... it def. worths that 120 buckss!
Enjoy!
