LEGO Kids' Watch #5900100

So, it doesn't have the most exciting name, but this is still an outstanding set of DUPLO blocks for young builders. What makes the 140-piece set so entertaining is the variety of the blocks. There are plenty of vehicle pieces with little wheels to make trains or cars. Also included are blocks for houses and blocks featuring animals, eyes, and sunny skies that allow kids to build anything they can imagine. Everything is stored in a nice big plastic container, with plenty of extra room and a lid that fits on nice and tight. --John Moe

Summary: Update on a previous review- this toy has been improved!

Not long ago I reviewed this toy (under my husband's ID) and mentioned that it featured only one piece with wheels on it. Since then this toy has been updated. As you can see from the image above, the toy now features numerous pieces with wheels. Please disregard the other review as it applies to an older version of the duplo 140-piece set. Apparently LEGO has taken customer suggestions to heart and come out with a set that features numerous pieces with wheels. YAY!

I have found that the set is the very best! I ordered this when my grandson was 3 years old and he loves it more now at 5 years old because his imagination has grown and he can build even bigger and better structures. His 3 year old sister tries to use his blocks, but he resists, so I must order more so that the both can enjoy this very durable, large, wonderful set.

...an excerpt from a note from the Mom of Thomas Hoang - a 2 year old friend of ours - "Thank-you so much for the Duplo Lego. Thomas enjoys it so much. The day he open the box he played until midnight and refused to go to sleep. The famous thing he made, what he called "cach co" - a tractor. The Legos turn into his favorite toy."
What more can you say? Perhaps that the play value will last for many years.

Summary: This Toy is So Frustrating!

My son (and I) were very excited about getting him this toy. I know of Lego's reputation (having played for years with my set when I was a child), and I was confident that this toy would provide my son with hours of fun. It could have except for the tremendously annoying fact that the toy comes with ONLY ONE piece on wheels, and I have never been able to find other ones unless I buy another entire set of the bulk tub. I don't understand this, the piece with wheels has a connection at on either side of it, which indicates that it is meant to be connected with others of its type. Are we expected to invest in three bulk tubs to get three measly wheel-pieces?
Anyways, the first of the few times we played with the toy my son would hold up the piece with wheels and say he wanted more like these. I had no answer for him. He couldn't make any trains with the set and so he gave up on playing with it. My eleven month old loves chewing on the pieces though!

This is a best buy as a gift for very young children. I bought this as a gift for a two-year old child of a friend, and it is the next step up from the soft blocks I gave the child last year. It is an activity type item, which will probably also be used by the child's older brother. It comes in a convenient plastic storage tub.
