If Buffy the Vampire Slayer represents the lighter side of high school as a macabre experience, here's a movie that asks the burning question, "What happens when angst-ridden teenagers develop supernatural powers?" More to the point, how do four outcast teenaged witches handle their ability to cast wicked spells on the taunting classmates who've nicknamed them "The Bitches of Eastwick"? The answer, of course, is "don't get mad, get even." That's about all there is to this terminally silly movie, which makes up for its ludicrous plot by letting its young female cast have a field day as they indulge their dark fantasies. Fairuza Balk is enjoyable as the most wicked of the witches, and is therefore the focus of the film's most dazzling special effects. But it's Neve Campbell from television's Party of Five who made this film a modest box-office hit, just before she became her generation's fright-movie favorite in Scream and its popular sequel. --Jeff Shannon

Summary: Enjoyable, but be careful

Some parts of this film was well-researched, but anyone seeing this film should know that this is not what Wiccan/witchcraft is about. Some of the tenets in here are true - like doing no harm to other people, respecting nature and the like, but witchcraft will NOT give you super dee duper magical powers like what happened to the girls in the film.

The story itself is very enjoyable, and the girls taking matters into their own hands is fun to watch. It's also fun to watch the unexpected consequences of their spells, such as the guy trying to rape Sarah, people dying, and the like, so a good lesson to take from this film is to be careful what you wish for. As long as you watch this film and understand that some of the aspects of witchcraft in here are not real nor practiced by actual Wiccan practitioners, the story itself is rather enjoyable.

Summary: Hard to find in stores!

I was origionally looking for this for a resident of mine in a rehab who was bored & said he loved this movie. After having a terrible time finding it in stores (Fred Meyer, WalMart, Target, BX, etc...) I found it on Amazon & bought myself one as well. I always liked the soundtrack & it is an entertaining movie. It has the good versus evil thing & high school witches behaving badly with good prevailing in the end. A good mix of high school angst & magic.

Summary: A very good little witchy movie!

Although I've owned this movie for a few years now, it continues to be one of my favorites. Sure, it may be geared more towards teenagers, but I still love it. Basically, three teenage witches entice a new student into their circle and turn on her in the end, but I won't spoil the very ending for anybody who hasn't see this movie. Whether you are a teen, or a teen at heart, if you have even the slightest interest in Witchcraft, you will enjoy this film. I give it two thumbs up and five stars.
