Summary: Boring...
Nothing revealed- nothing any guitar player doesn't already know. Too many words to convey too little information. Skip this book, ( and the others in his series) and keep looking. Youtube contains much more relevant and usable information. Save your money.

Summary: How To Write Songs On Guitar
I've only read a small part of this book, however I can 'Feell' the Creativity that the Author wants to pass on to his readers.. Everything is So Different to what I expected - BETTER, So Helpful & Encouraging.. I recommend this book highly.. I think you have to "Get It" - Meaning you Understand what the Author is getting at Or You Don't..!!! It's that simple... You really have to open your mind & heart to realise & Feel the authors Encouragement & Lessons... If you 'Don't Get It' then "Don't get it..!!'

Summary: Great Comprehensive Guide
This book gives you so many methods and ideas for songwriting, you can't help but put out a good tune. It covers everything from subject to lyric to melody to chord progression and more. It's a complete study, worthy of a college course to go with it. Great reference.

Summary: Not Well Written
Not sure why there are so many 5 star reviews for this book. Maybe it's because the book is so slickly packaged and colorful. Do not expect to get much out of this book, unless you are well versed in music theory. You'll have to figure the theory out for yourself. Not that Rooksby doesn't try. Rooksby attempts to explain the theory behind chords and their use, but the explanations are so abbreviated that a newcomer will never figure out what he's talking about. Another problem;he often introduces important concepts not explained until later chapters, if at all. On the positive, you will learn about different sequences of chords and what songs use them. There is good information here, but just poorly explained. I suggest The Complete Idiot's Guide to Music Theory and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Music Composition, both by Michael Miller be used in CONJUNCTION with Rooksby's book.

Summary: Beyond The Call
This work takes you WAY beyond the techniques of songwriting and qualifies more as the be-all, end-all work for guitar I have ever seen. Starting with the musical basics, this book covers evey aspect of guitar. It's a solid must have for anyone who ever even thought about picking up the instrument. Written in clear terms, the work covers tricks and tips that have taken me over fifty years to discover and master. Better than having a know-it-all best friend to coach your every move. If your serious about guitar and you don't own this book,...well, good luck!
