Product Description
This historic work reveals the inner spiritual life of one of the most beloved and important religious figures in history.
During her lifelong service to the poorest of the poor, Mother Teresa became an icon of compassion to people of all religions; her extraordinary contributions to the care of the sick, the dying, and thousands of others nobody else was prepared to look after has been recognized and acclaimed throughout the world. Little is known, however, about her own spiritual heights or her struggles. This collection of her writing and reflections, almost all of which have never been made public before, sheds light on Mother Teresa's interior life in a way that reveals the depth and intensity of her holiness for the first time.
Compiled and presented by Fr. Brian Kolodiejchuk, M.C., who knew Mother Teresa for twenty years and is the postulator for her cause for sainthood and director of the Mother Teresa Center, MOTHER TERESA brings together letters she wrote to her spiritual advisors over decades. A moving chronicle of her spiritual journey?including moments, indeed years, of utter desolation?these letters reveal the secrets she shared only with her closest confidants. She emerges as a classic mystic whose inner life burned with the fire of charity and whose heart was tested and purified by an intense trial of faith, a true dark night of the soul.
Published to coincide with the tenth anniversary of her death, MOTHER TERESA is an intimate portrait of a woman whose life and work continue to be admired by millions of people.

Summary: Powerfully moving.
"Come Be My Light" is a book that will humble you. Mother Teresa is a shining example of what God can do with anyone who is open to His design in their life. Mother Teresa chose the narrow road and this book will take you on her difficult and joyful journey. It's a book that I could only read small amounts of at a time so that I could savor the beauty of the text. Enjoy.

Summary: Excellent Read...
An interesting book - especially so, since I am a Protestant. I made an attempt to read with an open mind to Catholic Dogma. Mother Teresa knew she was going to be made a Saint, so of course, she had to suffer.

Summary: Pieces of her Private Writings
By all means this isn't light reading. In this book I was expecting more writings from Mother Teresa herself. Our author and editor, Brian Kolodiejchuk, chose privileged letters between Mother Teresa and her spiritual and religious elders to inform us, unquestionably, of her inner struggles and doubts. Kolodiejchuk credits her in the by-line although she didn't write this book per say. Perhaps more significantly, I wonder if he left too much out? The risk of selecting pieces here and there of her private writings allows the author (slash)editor obvious bias. The book is informative as to the obstacles Mother Teresa encountered by the Catholic Church while pursing her dream to care for the poorest of the poor in Calcutta, India. However, if you haven't read other books about her work you will be trying to understand the depths of poverty she endured, the hopelessness the "untouchables" experienced, not the least, the anguish of daily survival. Kolodiejchuk left out these principle facts. Without providing us with the harsh realities, Kolodiejchuk explores only half of Mother Teresa's unbelievable inner world. This book was marketed to be the First biography revealing Mother Teresa's unpublished intimate writings. There was much discussion around the release of this book, especially regarding Mother Teresa's wishes that these particular letters are never to be unsealed. Kolodiejchuk does educate the reader about Mother Teresa's inner longings and struggles with, what I believe to be, historical value to further document the life and works of the Catholic Church's modern day Saint.
